THREE MINUTE FILM SCRIPT – No Dialogue
You must conceive and write a compact story that can be successfully told in three pages max –
so character and story complexity is not the goal. The purpose of this script is for you to
prioritize action, visible behavior, and revealing images to tell a story. Actions should reveal
character objectives, traits and inner thoughts.
This is not a silent film, so you may also use sounds (not dialogue). Think about how sounds can
also contribute to, or even lead, the story
Think in terms of commercials that revolve around a story, or recall an short event that
happened in your family, or that you witnessed on the subway or at work. You will usually need
to tweak your observations so that these events tell a clear, well told story.
Think in terms of a single event that has a dramatic shape. Keep it simple and visual.
