INDIVIDUAL PAPER ON INPUT (FORMAL STYLE): “La pluma es la lengua de la

You will write your first paper individually and submit it to Turnitin.com. BEFORE it goes to Turnitin, your classmates will provide feedback on drafts of this paper. This will take place well before the final paper is due, so that you have time to correct problems. There are separate due dates for your Drafts, and for your Final Paper on Input. Both the drafts and the final paper receive grades. See the CALENDAR page for the due date and the General Info page for the percentage of your grade. Instructions on Drafts: Your grades on Drafts are based both on your own draft and on your feedback to classmates. If you miss class on the date that a draft is due, you will receive a zero on the assignment. On your Draft 1: You are NOT required to reach the full word count on the paper. You should have a minimum of 2-3 full pages of writing, double-spaced (not including reference list).

You should touch on each of the three questions you are writing about. You are REQUIRED to demonstrate a beginning effort at APA style. You are REQUIRED to have the beginnings of a reference list. A developing STRUCTURE and ORGANIZATION of your ideas should be evident. On your Draft 2: You ARE required to reach the full word count on the paper and have information for all the questions. You are REQUIRED to demonstrate fairly good APA style. You are REQUIRED to have a complete reference list. The STRUCTURE and ORGANIZATION of your ideas should be evident, though you will still have time to improve this on the final paper. ************************

Instructions on Final Paper:

A. (3 points) LENGTH OF PAPER ASSIGNMENT:

Minimum: 1200 words; Maximum: 1400 words. The professor will STOP READING after 1400 words. USE THE COMPUTER FOR YOUR WORD COUNT (no manual counts). The reason for the word count is because I get better papers that way. Part of this assignment is prioritizing. If you spend time working on what to put in and what to take out of this paper, then you did what I wanted you to do. I myself have been asked to cut up to 2/3 on articles I have published (2 out of every 3 words!!), so I know what I’m asking of you. You will be better writers for it. The REFERENCE LIST at the end of the paper in APA format is not part of the word count. APA-format citations within the body of your paper ARE part of the word count; quotations within the body of your paper ARE part of the word count.
